The University of Washington women’s tennis team advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 after defeating Liberty University 4-0 on May 2 at Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville, Virginia.

This victory marks Washington’s second consecutive season reaching the Round of 32 and their twentieth win this year. The Huskies have now achieved back-to-back seasons with at least twenty wins for the first time since 1980 and 1981.

Washington started strong in doubles play, with Erika Matsuda and Karolina Kozakova winning their match at the No. 1 spot by a score of 6-0. Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim followed closely behind, securing a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. These results gave Washington its twenty-first doubles point in twenty-five matches this season.

In singles competition, Marie Weissheim earned a straight-set win (6-0, 6-3) on Court No.5 to give Washington its second point and improved her dual season record to fifteen wins and three losses. Jermine Sherif extended the lead with a two-set victory (6-2, 6-2) on Court No.4 before Kozakova clinched the overall match for Washington by winning her singles contest (6-2, 6-1) on Court No.6.

The Huskies will next face seventh-seeded Virginia in Sunday’s Round of 32 matchup scheduled for a morning start at ten o’clock Pacific Time.
