The Washington women’s tennis team defeated Northwestern, 4-0, at the Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium on Mar. 27. With this win, the Huskies improved their season record to 14-1 and moved to 5-1 in Big Ten play.

This result strengthens Washington’s position as one of the top teams in collegiate women’s tennis this season. The match featured strong performances across both doubles and singles competitions.

In doubles action, Reece Carter and Jermine Sherif were first off the court with a 6-3 victory on Court 3. Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim then secured the doubles point for Washington by defeating Northwestern’s No. 81-ranked pair, marking their first ranked win together and extending their season record as a duo to 10-0.

On the singles courts, Karolina Kozakova made her debut for Washington with a straight-set win at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-3). Erika Matsuda added another point for the Huskies by winning at No.1 singles against a nationally ranked opponent (6-1, 6-4). Reece Carter clinched the overall match with her own straight-set victory on Court 2 (6-4, 6-2), remaining undefeated this season at 13-0.

Several matches were left unfinished once Washington had secured enough points for victory. The team is scheduled to play next against Illinois at noon Sunday at Nordstrom Tennis Center.
