The No. 21 Washington women’s tennis team lost to No. 12 USC, 4-1, on Friday afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium in Los Angeles.

The match was significant as it affected the Huskies’ overall record, bringing them to 15 wins and two losses this season and a conference record of six wins and two losses in Big Ten play.

In doubles competition, Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim continued their undefeated streak with a win on Court 2. The pair improved their season record to twelve wins without a loss. However, USC secured the doubles point by winning matches on Courts 1 and 3.

Reece Carter, ranked seventieth nationally, won her singles match at the No. 2 spot for Washington with scores of 6-4 and 6-1. This victory marked her fifteenth singles win of the season and kept her undefeated in singles play. Despite Carter’s success, USC earned points on Courts 1 and 4 before clinching the match on Court 3 after Jacobs fell in three sets to Eugenia Zozaya.

Other matches saw competitive efforts from Washington players Marie Weissheim and Karolina Kozakova; however, their matches were unfinished when the overall result was decided.

Washington is scheduled to return to action against No.18 UCLA at noon Sunday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
