Washington women’s tennis loses to UCLA 4-2 in Los Angeles

The No. 21 Washington women’s tennis team lost to No. 18 UCLA by a score of 4-2 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on April 5.

This match affects Washington’s season record, bringing them to 15 wins and three losses overall, with a conference record of six wins and three losses in the Big Ten.

In doubles play, Reece Carter and Jermine Sherif came back from an early deficit to win their match at the No. 3 spot, while Karolina Kozakova and Erika Matsuda secured another point for Washington with a victory at No. 2 doubles. It was Kozakova’s first appearance in doubles this season.

UCLA gained momentum in singles competition by winning matches on Courts 1 and 2, taking a lead over Washington. Marie Weissheim evened the score with a straight-set win on Court 4, maintaining her undefeated singles record this season at thirteen wins without a loss. The Bruins then clinched the overall victory by winning matches on Courts 5 and 6.

Washington will return home for its next match against Minnesota, scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m.
