Washington women’s tennis will host its final home matches of the regular season against Minnesota and No. 31 Wisconsin this weekend, according to an April 9 announcement. This weekend holds special significance as it marks the last opportunity for fans to see the Huskies play at home before postseason competition. The team currently has an overall record of 15-3, with a conference record of 6-3 in Big Ten play.
A pre-match ceremony on Sunday will honor seniors Reece Carter and Erika Matsuda for their contributions over two seasons together, during which Washington has posted a combined record of 36-8. In singles and doubles across all courts this season, Washington is a combined 93-24 through eighteen matches. The Huskies have secured the doubles point in sixteen out of eighteen contests so far, boasting a cumulative doubles record of 35-7 and remaining unbeaten on Court 2.
The latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings place Washington at No. 21 as of April 7. Three players—No. 75 Erika Matsuda, No. 78 Reece Carter, and No. 118 Marie Weisshem—are ranked in singles, while Matsuda teams up with Carina Syrtveit at No. 82 in doubles rankings.
Under head coach Robin Stephenson since 2015, Washington has achieved a home record of 113-29 in Seattle and reached double-digit home wins in four out of the last five seasons.
Minnesota arrives with an overall mark of ten wins and thirteen losses (0-9 conference), having started their season with six straight victories including one over then-ranked Denver; Washington leads their series history four games to three as they meet as conference opponents for the first time this weekend.
Wisconsin comes into Montlake holding a thirteen-and-five overall record (6-3 Big Ten) and sits at No.31 nationally according to ITA team rankings; Maria Sholokhova is ranked nineteenth individually while Ekaterina Ivanova stands sixtieth—both also appear prominently in doubles alongside Lucie Urbanova who pairs with Sholokhova for twentieth place nationally among duos.
Following these matches, Washington will conclude its regular season away against Penn State on April seventeenth and Ohio State on April nineteenth before competing in the Big Ten Tournament beginning April twenty-third.
