Cornish College of the Arts recently issued the following announcement on Feb 16.
Faculty Spotlight #6! Meet Ozge Sade Mete, professor in the Interior Architecture department! @sadeozge
Where is your favorite place to write?
I used to write in coffee shops and write most of my doctoral dissertation at the Victoria on Pike Street. With the pandemic though, I am enjoying writing on my kitchen table, which I figure is as right as those coffee shop tables.
Do you have a favorite food, drink, or activity to help you through writer’s block?
Yes, I am a tea person. Even though I love coffee, it gives me migraines. I drink earl grey black tea brewed in a two piece Turkish teapot on the stove.
What role does writing play in your life?
To say the least, writing makes me clarify my thoughts and opens avenues for developing ideas.
What is your writing process like?
I try to start by putting the main goal down and then organize my thoughts, meaning out them in order. Then I try to connect those ideas to create a story line.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve received when needing to utilize writing in your professional or personal life?
When I was just starting to write my doctoral dissertation and felt stuck, one of my advisors asked “What is your story?” That got me started. I remember that question ever since when I need to start a new piece of writing.
