346 coaches at institutions in King County earned $61,857 on average in 2022

King County’s 346 coaches earned an average salary of $61,857 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the third highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Washington post-secondary schools during 2022.

King County is home to eight post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Washington-Seattle Campus stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $615,105.

Male coaches of men's teams received $260,350 on average in King County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $98,477.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
