Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congress member representing Washington's 7th district since 2017, recently shared her views on several pressing issues via social media. Her comments addressed the ongoing conflict involving the Biden Administration, actions of the U.S. Senate regarding arms sales to Israel, and a legislative proposal she opposes.

On November 21, 2024, Rep. Jayapal criticized the Biden Administration for its handling of an ongoing war in which she claims many lives have been lost without significant progress towards peace. She stated that "The Biden Admin has had many opportunities to end this war and save lives, and it has refused to change course despite over a year of killing Palestinians, destroying infrastructure, very few hostages returned, and an escalating regional conflict. This will not lead to peace."

In another post on the same day, Rep. Jayapal expressed disappointment with the U.S. Senate's decision not to block certain offensive weapons sales to Israel. She thanked Senator Bernie Sanders and other senators who voted against this decision: "The US Senate abdicated an important opportunity to apply our domestic laws and block certain offensive weapons to Israel. Thank you @SenSanders and the 17 other Senators who voted with conscience tonight."

Later that day, Rep. Jayapal announced her opposition to HR 9495, a piece of legislation she believes would grant excessive power to former President Donald Trump without due process protections for civil society groups and others: "I just voted NO on HR 9495 — legislation that would give Donald Trump unfettered power to punish civil society groups, news outlets, hospitals, and universities with zero due process." She described it as "an authoritarian and undemocratic play by Republicans."
