Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 7th district since 2017, shared her views on various political issues through a series of tweets posted on December 2, 2024. Her statements addressed concerns regarding the Republican party's actions and policies, emphasizing the need for expanded voting rights and critiquing certain legislative decisions.

On December 2, Rep. Jayapal questioned the intentions of former President Trump and the Republican party in supporting low-income and working-class citizens. She expressed skepticism about their commitment to these groups by highlighting the composition of Trump's Cabinet: "Think Trump and Republicans are going to fight for poor and working people? Think again. Just take a look at his Cabinet so far — it’s full of billionaires, former corporate CEOs, and folks with ties to Wall Street. That’s not a team ready to fight for poor and working people."

Later that day, she emphasized the importance of expanding ballot access across America without discrimination based on race, religion, or income levels. She stated that such efforts should be universally supported: "We must work to expand ballot access and voting rights across the country, in every single corner of America — no matter a community’s race, religion, or income. This should not be controversial."

In another tweet posted on December 2nd as well, Rep. Jayapal criticized Texas Republicans for their refusal to examine evidence related to maternal mortality rates linked to abortion restrictions in the state: "Republicans in Texas are refusing to review maternal mortality evidence, essentially trying to erase proof that their state’s abortion ban is killing women. This is shameful — and there’s nothing “pro-life” about it."
