Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 7th district since 2017, recently shared her thoughts on social media regarding local and national political events. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal has been an active political figure, having served in the Washington State Senate before her current congressional role.

On January 25, 2025, Rep. Jayapal congratulated Councilmember Zahilay on his appointment as the King County Council Chair. She expressed optimism about the council's future achievements under his leadership: "Congratulations to Councilmember Zahilay (@CMGirmayZahilay) on his unanimous selection as the 2025 King County Council Chair! I look forward to seeing what the Council achieves under your leadership."

Later that day, she posted a brief tweet expressing sarcasm with "*pretends to be shocked*".

In another post on January 25, Rep. Jayapal reflected on her experience during the Capitol insurrection and criticized recent pardons related to it: "I was in the Capitol on Jan 6. I can still hear the pounding on the doors by the insurrectionists who violently attacked our Capitol and our democracy. These pardons make a mockery of our justice system."
