Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 7th district since 2017, recently expressed her concerns on social media regarding various pressing issues. Her statements reflect her advocacy for humane treatment of immigrants and accountability in government operations.

On February 4, 2025, Rep. Jayapal criticized the decision to send immigrants to Guantanamo Bay, a military prison known for its harsh conditions. She stated, "Trump is now officially sending immigrants to Guantanamo Bay — a military prison known for incredible cruelty and inhumane conditions." She emphasized that asylum seekers deserve better treatment and pledged to oppose this action.

Later that day, she made a direct statement about Elon Musk with the words "Fire Elon Musk."

In another post on February 4, 2025, Rep. Jayapal highlighted the adverse effects of what she described as an illegal takeover by Elon Musk at USAID. Citing an estimate from a current USAID worker, she noted that “at a minimum, 300 babies that wouldn’t have had HIV now do.” She urged immediate reinstatement of frozen funding to prevent further harm.
