Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 7th district, has recently shared her concerns on social media regarding various pressing issues. Her statements touch upon the USAID shutdown, constitutional matters within the U.S. government, and escalating violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

On February 10, 2025, Rep. Jayapal expressed alarm over communications from USAID Directors abroad who reported that they had "lost contact with Washington" and were "on our own." She described this situation as illegal and attributed it to actions by former President Trump and Elon Musk, stating that it could have fatal consequences.

The following day, February 11, 2025, she criticized the Vice President for suggesting that Trump might disregard judicial decisions. She asserted that if this was indeed his belief, he needed to revisit basic civics education because "we have three co-equal branches of govt." Jayapal warned that Trump's actions posed a threat to congressional power and signaled a potential constitutional crisis.

Later on February 11, 2025, Rep. Jayapal addressed the humanitarian crisis in the DRC where M23 rebels have disrupted aid efforts and displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians. She called for an end to violence by urging the Rwandan government to cease its support for M23 rebels and encouraged all parties involved to deescalate tensions.
