Rep. Pramila Jayapal, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district, shared a series of tweets addressing various political and social issues on February 14, 2025.

In her first tweet, "It’s always an honor to speak with my brothers, sisters, and siblings in @AFGENational who keep our country running every single day. In the face of Trump’s attacks on the federal workforce, I’m standing with workers — fighting for their jobs and their rights." Rep. Jayapal expressed solidarity with members of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) amidst perceived challenges from former President Trump's policies affecting the federal workforce.

Later that day, she addressed misconceptions about foreign aid spending in a subsequent tweet. She stated, "How much of our federal budget do you think goes to USAID? 10%? 25%? 40%? Don’t let Trump and Elon lie to you — it’s 0.71%. Foreign aid is a tiny portion of our spending that does good in the world, saves lives, and advances American interests. It must be protected." Rep. Jayapal aimed to clarify public misunderstanding regarding the percentage of the federal budget allocated to USAID.

In her final post for the day, Rep. Jayapal highlighted concerns about actions taken by ICE under Trump's administration. She remarked, "Under Trump’s direction, ICE has detained U.S. citizens just for speaking Spanish. That is not only an incredible violation of their rights, it’s ridiculous. I’m demanding answers from the administration." This statement underscores her demand for accountability concerning alleged civil rights violations.
