Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 7th district since 2017, has recently expressed her views on several issues via social media. Jayapal, who succeeded Jim McDermott and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016, is known for her outspoken stance on various political matters.

On February 20, 2025, Jayapal criticized the Trump administration's approach to governance. She stated that "The chaos and cruelty of the Trump administration are carefully designed tools." According to her post, these actions aim to distract the public from policies that favor billionaires and large corporations at the expense of ordinary citizens.

Later that day, she addressed financial regulations concerning overdraft fees. In a tweet posted at 19:38 UTC, she noted that "Trump is literally fighting to let banks charge you higher overdraft fees." She highlighted a recent Republican-led legislative effort, purportedly at Trump's request, to overturn a $5 cap on overdraft fees established by Democrats.

In another statement made on February 20 at 21:57 UTC, Jayapal discussed foreign aid and accused prominent figures of undermining humanitarian efforts. She asserted that "Democrats won’t just sit back as Trump and Elon Musk dismantle USAID." Her comments emphasized a commitment to protecting this agency's mission against attempts she perceives as self-serving.
