Rep. Pramila Jayapal, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 7th district, has recently expressed her strong opposition to a Republican spending bill through a series of tweets. Her posts reflect her concerns over proposed budget cuts and treatment of immigrants under the Trump administration.

On March 11, 2025, Rep. Jayapal criticized the Republican spending bill for including significant reductions in rental assistance, which she claims would lead to "32,000 American families facing eviction." She emphasized that Democrats will not support these funding cuts nor "give Elon Musk a blank check to destroy America" (source).

Later that day, Rep. Jayapal reiterated her disapproval of the spending bill by labeling it as "a slush fund for Trump and Elon Musk" aimed at dismantling essential programs such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. She declared her intention to vote against the bill (source).

In another tweet posted on March 11, 2025, Rep. Jayapal announced leading 27 House members in seeking answers from the Trump administration regarding its treatment of immigrants. She condemned the detention of immigrants in facilities described as inhumane and cited issues like rampant sexual abuse at one location slated for closure (source).
