Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, has expressed her views on several key issues through recent tweets. Jayapal, who succeeded Jim McDermott and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016, is known for her outspoken stance on various political matters.

On March 13, 2025, Rep. Jayapal addressed the topic of undocumented immigrants in the United States. She stated that "there are many undocumented immigrants currently residing in the United States." Furthermore, she emphasized that these individuals have been in America for an average of 16 years and are contributing to both the economy and communities by having jobs, families, and paying taxes.

Later that day, Jayapal commented on government operations by pointing out that "Republicans have the power to keep the government open." She noted their majorities across significant branches of government and suggested that any potential shutdown would be their responsibility. Meanwhile, she affirmed Democrats' commitment to advocating for American citizens.

In another tweet posted shortly thereafter, Jayapal highlighted concerns regarding proposed cuts to social programs by prominent figures such as Trump and Elon Musk alongside Republicans. She questioned whether Democrats would allow such measures without opposition but firmly stated her position with "HELL NO."
