On March 13, 2025, Rep. Jayapal expressed her stance on government funding, stating that "Democrats need to stand up and fight for the American people." She mentioned the readiness to pass a 30-day clean funding bill but emphasized resistance against providing what she described as a "blank check" to former President Trump and Elon Musk for their governmental actions.

Later that day, she shared her condolences over the passing of a fellow congressional leader. In her words, "Rep Grijalva was a tremendous leader in Congress who would always stand up for the people no matter how tough..." She noted that she succeeded him as co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), highlighting their professional relationship and his influence.
