Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, has been vocal on social media about her stance against recent legislative actions. Jayapal, who replaced Jim McDermott in Congress and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016, expressed her concerns over decisions that she believes negatively impact working families.

On March 14, 2025, Jayapal urged Senate Democrats not to support certain legislative measures. She stated: "Senate Democrats: Don’t betray working families. Don’t give Trump and Elon Musk a blank check. Don’t be complicit in the slashing of government programs." She called for a rejection of cloture and final passage of what she described as "Republicans’ bad bill."

Later that day, Jayapal commended House Democratic leadership for their unity and strategy against perceived threats to American benefits by former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk. She tweeted: "Our House Democratic leadership, led by @RepJeffries, united the House Democratic caucus with a clear message & strategy to protect Americans from the destruction of their benefits by Trump and Musk."

In another tweet posted on the same day, Jayapal reiterated her opposition to Republican initiatives by stating: "Defeat the partisan Republican spending bill. Stand up for America’s working families. VOTE NO." Her call to action emphasized standing up for working families against partisan legislation.
