Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 7th district, recently shared her thoughts on various topics through a series of tweets. Jayapal, who has been serving in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott, expressed her opinions on political and cultural matters.

On March 14, 2025, Rep. Jayapal voiced her disapproval of the Senate's decision to pass what she described as a partisan spending bill backed by Republicans. She stated, "I’m incredibly disappointed in the Senate’s vote to pass Republicans’ partisan spending bill." She further criticized Democrats for potentially supporting this measure and emphasized the need to oppose it for the benefit of the American people.

The following day, March 15, 2025, Rep. Jayapal extended her greetings for Holi, a festival celebrated by many around the world. In her tweet, she said, "Happy Holi to all who celebrate! Holi is a time to celebrate spring, the new harvest, and to come together as a community." She wished that the festival would bring joy and peace to those celebrating.

Later on March 15, Rep. Jayapal commented on legal actions related to wartime powers under the Alien Enemies Act. She noted that this act has historically been used in ways that violate due process rights. In response to recent developments concerning this legislation, she remarked, "The Alien Enemies Act is a war-time power that has consistently been used in a discriminatory way and has violated due process." She highlighted the significance of a temporary restraining order against former President Trump's actions as an important step toward upholding the rule of law.
