Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, shared her views on several pressing political issues via a series of tweets. Jayapal, who succeeded Jim McDermott and previously served in the Washington State Senate, has been a vocal advocate for numerous social and economic reforms.

On April 3, 2025, Jayapal emphasized the importance of the Democratic Party's shift from being merely an opposition to providing proactive solutions. In her tweet, she stated: "Democrats can’t just be an opposition party, we have to be a proposition party — to show people that we will stand up and fight for them. That is how we move forward — by fighting for Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, higher wages, and more. By fighting for the people."

Later the same day, Jayapal criticized certain major law firms for their actions concerning former President Donald Trump. She stated: "Shame on major law firms who keep bending the knee to Donald Trump to protect their profits instead of protecting our democracy. It is dangerous and disgusting to see the cowardice in standing up to bullying and intimidation from an authoritarian leader." She notably praised Perkins Coie for their stance.

Additionally, Jayapal issued a stark warning about the potential impacts of Trump's actions on the global economy. She tweeted: "Donald Trump is singlehandedly plunging the global economy into a recession."
