Citing Democrats who have commented on social media companies’ censorship of President Donald Trump’s account, Jason Rantz, on Fox News, said: “the left should be more worried than conservatives.”
Rantz listed Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.).
Replying to Twitter’s announcement that Trump’s account has been permanently suspended, Manchin posted “Thank you Twitter for taking this action. We must come together as a country to heal and find a common path forward.” Warner said, “It was an overdue step.”
Twitter and Facebook also blocked Trump from their platforms. This was followed by the removal of conservative alternative platform Parler from Apple and Google Web services.
Rantz said, “Trump’s tweet announcing he would skip the inauguration was interpreted by some as an invitation for another riot in D.C.”
“Democrats celebrating censorship, and social media companies flaunting their decisions with specious justifications, should be wary,” he wrote in his article. “The very same desire to silence a political opponent will come for them. And the tech giants trying to please the party in charge just backed a move that puts their political future in jeopardy. How do you think Republicans will respond when they retain power?”
To Rantz, the tech giants have "created a political nightmare for the Democrats."
