A call involving a driver asleep at the wheel led to an arrest and the recovery of a significant amount of narcotics last Monday.
Around 8:30 a.m., police were called to the 5500 block of 15th Avenue South for reports of a person asleep in a running vehicle partially blocking a sidewalk and a bike lane. Officers contacted the driver and took him into custody after observing signs of impairment. They also noted evidence of narcotics use inside the vehicle where the driver and passenger were seated, as well as on the driver’s clothing.
Police impounded the vehicle and a search warrant was later served on the car by Narcotics detectives. During the search, detectives recovered the following:
- 17 pounds of methamphetamine
- Two pounds of fentanyl pills
- One pound of fentanyl powder
- 340 grams of cocaine
- 30 grams of heroin
- $17,721 in cash
At the residence, police recovered:
- Two and a half pounds of fentanyl powder
- 300 grams of methamphetamine
- 150 grams of cocaine
- 1,000 fentanyl pills
