Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congress member representing Washington's 7th district, recently made statements on social media regarding significant legislative actions and support initiatives. Jayapal has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2017, after previously serving in the Washington State Senate.
On November 20, 2024, Rep. Jayapal announced her endorsement of a resolution led by Senator Bernie Sanders to halt certain offensive arms transfers to Israel. She stated: "NEW: My full statement with eight House colleagues in support of @SenSanders' resolution to suspend specific offensive arms transfers to Israel."
Later that day, Jayapal shared another update about her efforts alongside Senators Mazie Hirono and Representatives Sara Jacobs and Mark Pocan, introducing a resolution for Trans Day of Remembrance. She expressed determination against anti-trans violence by saying: "I just introduced a resolution with @maziehirono, @RepSaraJacobs, & @RepMarkPocan commemorating Trans Day of Remembrance."
Furthermore, she acknowledged the collaboration of numerous colleagues supporting this initiative by thanking them: "Thank you to the 92 members who joined this resolution — you can see the full list and read our press release here."
