Firearm Recovered After Man Shot During Ballard Robbery

Police are investigating a robbery which escalated into a shooting in the Ballard area Friday morning.

Just before 10 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to 14th Avenue NW and NW Leary Way for a reported shooting. Police located the victim who had been shot in the leg and secured the scene while Seattle Fire provided aid.

Based on witness information, additional officers and a K-9 unit were requested after learning the suspect rode away on a bicycle.

Officers searched the area and recovered clothing items belonging to the suspect, as well as the bicycle he was seen riding. Police also found a loaded handgun near the discarded clothing.

Police collected the clothing and gun as well as additional evidence found nearby.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries for further evaluation.
