Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congress member representing Washington’s 7th district, has recently been vocal on social media about various fiscal and social issues. Jayapal has consistently served in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. She has previously served in the Washington State Senate and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.

On April 15, 2025, Pramila Jayapal highlighted the significance of Social Security, describing it as "an EARNED benefit—something that people pay into their entire lives". She asserted, "We will not stand for any cuts to your Social Security from DOGE."

Later the same day, Jayapal marked Tax Day with a statement on tax inequities, using the example of wealthier individuals. She pointed out, "you’re probably paying a higher tax rate than Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Donald Trump?" She criticized Republican plans, stating, "the system is rigged for the rich — and Republicans are trying to rig it even more with their $4.5 trillion tax cut for the top 1%."

In another tweet, Jayapal discussed the plight of DACA recipients, who contribute as taxpayers, advocating their right to healthcare access. She emphasized, "I’m proud to be helping to lead 117 Members of Congress in calling on HHS to change course on this disastrous decision."

Pramila Jayapal is an advocate for these issues, connecting her background and service experience to current challenges faced by constituents.

Pramila Jayapal has served in the U.S. Congress, representing Washington's 7th District, since 2017. She previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016.
