Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, expressed concerns over recent political developments through a series of tweets on January 29, 2025.

In one tweet, Jayapal criticized an executive decision that she claims undermines congressional authority. She stated, "On top of the impacts on working Americans, this move completely undermined Congress’ spending authority. Congress appropriated all of these funds — under no circumstances can the president just unilaterally decide to freeze them."

Jayapal also shared her outlook for the upcoming years, noting potential challenges and advocating for continued activism. She tweeted, "This is going to be a long four years, full of inhumane proposals and cruel executive orders. But we’ve got organizing power. So let’s stick together and keep fighting the good fight."

Additionally, Jayapal commented on a recent judicial intervention regarding a federal fund freeze. She remarked on the temporary block by a federal judge as a positive development but emphasized ongoing struggles against certain political agendas: "Now, a federal judge has rightfully blocked this freeze until Monday, which is a good first step — but this fight continues. Trump and his rich buddies are committed to the Republican Ripoff and taking away the federal resources you rely on."
