Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, recently expressed her views on refugee resettlement services and aviation safety through a series of tweets. These comments highlight her positions on crucial issues affecting the nation.

On January 30, 2025, Rep. Jayapal stated that "Refugee resettlement services help those who have fled violence, persecution, & more start a life in the US and begin contributing to our country." She criticized the halting of these services as both cruel and against national interests and joined calls to restore such programs immediately.

Later that day, she addressed a tragic event involving an aircraft accident near DCA. In her tweet from January 30, 2025, she conveyed her condolences by saying "My thoughts are with the victims of the horrific plane crash that occurred just outside of DCA last night." She emphasized gratitude towards first responders and called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

In another statement on January 30, 2025, Rep. Jayapal criticized former President Trump's remarks linking diversity initiatives to aviation safety issues. She tweeted that "Trump's attempt to blame this horrific plane crash on DEI is unsubstantiated and ridiculous." She argued that removing experienced public servants from federal roles poses a greater risk to aviation safety.
