Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 7th district, has raised concerns through a series of tweets regarding data privacy, immigration rights, and financial security for American citizens. These posts highlight her ongoing advocacy for protecting personal information and safeguarding citizen rights amidst recent developments.

On February 3, 2025, Rep. Jayapal tweeted about the potential transfer of personal data by former President Trump to Elon Musk. She questioned the comfort level of small business owners with Musk having access to sensitive information such as payment details and addresses. "Trump is handing over the personal data of millions of small business owners — your payment information, addresses, and more — to Elon Musk for 'review.' Are you comfortable with him having access to all of that data? I’m sure not."

Later that day, she addressed the issue of immigration rights in light of increased ICE raids across the country. Emphasizing the importance of knowing one's rights regardless of immigration status, she assured constituents that her office remains available for assistance. "Regardless of your immigration status, you have rights. As reports of ICE raids increase across the country, make sure you know your rights and share them with neighbors, friends, and loved ones. And as always, my office is here to help."

On February 4, 2025, Rep. Jayapal expressed concerns over Elon Musk's involvement with the Treasury's payment system which facilitates Social Security checks and Medicare payments. She accused Musk of attempting to undermine these systems by dismissing employees who oppose him and vowed continued efforts to counteract his actions. "Treasury’s payment system ensures that Social Security checks, Medicare payments, and more go out. Now, Elon Musk is sticking his hands in there and firing anyone in his way. He’s trying to steal from the American people. We’ll keep fighting to stop him."
