On March 23, 2025, Rep. Jayapal expressed her sorrow over the passing of Rep. Frank Chopp. She praised his contributions to housing, immigration, and anti-poverty measures, describing him as "brilliant, principled & driven" "I am devastated to hear that Rep. Later that day, she issued a reminder regarding ongoing efforts by former President Trump and Republicans to cut $880 billion from Medicaid funding. She highlighted these cuts as part of an effort to finance tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans "REMINDER: Trump and Republicans are still trying to cut $880 billion from Medicaid — all so they can pay for a giant tax break for the richest 1%."

In another tweet posted on March 23rd, Jayapal addressed the plight of legal immigrants facing deportation under current policies. She emphasized their integration into communities as neighbors and coworkers and criticized potential deportations as harmful both socially and economically "These people came here legally, they followed the rules. They are our neighbors, our friends, our coworkers. Now they’re at risk of being deported back to dangerous situations for literally no reason. This is bad for our communities and for our economy."
