Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a long-serving U.S. Congresswoman from Washington's 7th district, has been vocal on various matters recently through her social media posts. Her engagement on issues such as corporate mergers, festive well-wishing, and governmental agency protections has generated discussions among her followers.
On April 19, 2025, Jayapal expressed her stance on past and recent corporate activity in the grocery sector. She tweeted, "The 2015 Albertsons-Safeway merger raised prices, closed stores, caused layoffs, and shuttered small businesses. So in 2022, we fought the Albertsons-Kroger merger — and we won, saving jobs and protecting consumers. That’s the power of standing up to corporate greed."
In a lighter note, on April 20, 2025, Jayapal conveyed her holiday wishes to her audience, wishing them a joyful celebration. She took to social media stating, "To all those celebrating, I wish you a joyous and cheerful Easter surrounded by loved ones!"
Later that same day, Jayapal expressed concern over proposed changes to an important U.S. agency. Criticizing potential actions by the U.S. administration, she tweeted, "Trump’s efforts to destroy USAID will hurt communities across the globe as well as right here in the US. This administration does not have the authority to unilaterally end USAID — and Congress will continue to fight to protect it."
Pramila Jayapal has served in the U.S. Congress, representing Washington's 7th District, since 2017. She previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Educated at Georgetown University and Northwestern University, Jayapal was born in Chennai, Madras State in 1965, and currently resides in Seattle.
