Seattle Parks and Recreation childcare and teen learning hubs continue under Governor’s new restrictions

Childcare programs are exempt under the Governor’s new restrictions

Today Governor Inslee announced new restrictions to address the high rates of COVID-19 transmission in our regions and our state. These restrictions primarily focus on indoor social gatherings, indoor dining, indoor fitness, and other indoor activities. Childcare and schooling are exempt from these new restrictions.

Safety continues to be a priority at all Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) programs that serve youth and young people in our community. Health screenings upon entry, mandatory mask wearing, and regularly cleaning of facilities are tenants of these programs operating within community centers.

These programs continue to have childcare space available for those who are seeking care that supports virtual schooling. Scholarships are available to those in need (sliding scale coverage available both low-income and middle-income families). A full list of SPR child care locations is available here.

Youth learning hubs are free to all who are interested, and provide safe, clean space to do virtual learning for students age 12-18. Staff are on site to support learning. Meals are provided, and there are enrichment opportunities when schooling is complete. More information about these programs here.
