June Is Pride Month in Seattle Police Department

Pridemonth

June is Pride Month and the Seattle Police Department values the inclusivity and safety of all. So, this month, our social media platforms will show the department’s continued support for our LGBTQ+ SPD colleagues, community, family, and friends. This support is not new. In 2014, SPD launched the world’s first “Safe Place” program (www.seattle.gov/spd-safe-place) to increase the reporting of anti-LGBTQ+ crimes and increase safety in the LGBTQ+ community. Since then, “Safe Place” has grown to include more than 300 law enforcement partners across North America and Europe – most recently in Kent, WA, San Francisco, and Atlanta. We’re proud “Safe Place” started right here, with the SPD, and we continue to stand with our LGBTQ+ personnel and partners throughout the world.
