We’ve got a “whale” of a tale for #PetOfTheWeek this time around – meet Orca!
This young brindle Dutch Shepherd mix was brought in by a good Samaritan in late November. At 65 pounds, he is considered a “large breed” dog.
Orca is full of energy and loves to play, making him one of our “Rambunctious Red” personality pets. He tends to stay calm when the people around him are calm. As a one-year-old, Orca still has a lot of puppy energy in him, and he does best when he has lots of exercise and something to keep his mind busy. Orca is also very food motivated, so that will help with training. He is very responsive and attentive when it’s time for training, and caregivers say Orca is a very smart boy!
Due to how excited he can get, Orca would do best in a home without younger children. He is very strong on leash and needs someone who will be able to handle his size and strength. Orca loves to fetch and just wants to play non-stop! He is also still working on his manners, so he would do best with a family willing to work with him and help him become the best dog he can be.
Can you give Orca the loving, active home he deserves? He is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since he is our Pet of the Week, Orca’s adoption fee is reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the benefits of pet licensing at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.
The King County Pet Adoption Center is located at 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Adoption hours are noon to 5 p.m. weekdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends.
