Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, has recently shared her perspectives on significant legal and immigration issues through social media posts. Her remarks address the Supreme Court's hearing of a critical trans rights case and her views on immigration policies under different political administrations.

On December 4, 2024, Rep. Jayapal highlighted the importance of a Supreme Court case concerning trans rights. She stated, "Today, SCOTUS is hearing arguments in US v. Skrmetti — a landmark trans rights case that threatens medically necessary, gender-affirming care for trans people across this country."

Later that day, at 16:45 UTC, she expressed her critique of Republican claims regarding their stance on immigration. She wrote, "Republicans LOVE to say that they’re in favor of immigration — as long as people enter the country legally. But that’s a lie. Under Trump and Stephen Miller, they did all they could to destroy legal pathways and make our immigration system more dysfunctional."

In another post made at 17:56 UTC on the same day, Rep. Jayapal further commented on the impact of policy changes by political parties on border crossings. She observed that "When Democrats expand legal pathways, fewer people show up to the border. But when Republicans destroy those legal pathways, border crossings increase." She concluded by stating that "The correlation is there — but Republicans refuse to follow the logic so they can continue fear-mongering about immigrants."
