Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congress member representing Washington's 7th district since 2017, recently shared her views on social media regarding consumer protection, tax policy, and congressional leadership changes. Her tweets reflect her commitment to holding corporations accountable and supporting progressive policies.

On December 6, 2024, Rep. Jayapal expressed support for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), stating that its efforts are a prime example of government working for the people. She emphasized the importance of protecting consumers from corporate exploitation: "Check this out! This is what happens when government works FOR the people, to hold corporations accountable for trying to milk consumers. The @CFPB has excelled at protecting consumers again and again. One of the best investments we can make for poor & working people."

Later that day, she criticized former President Donald Trump's proposal to reduce the corporate tax rate to 15%, arguing that it would benefit large corporations at the expense of educational funding: "Trump wants to slash the corporate tax rate to 15% — giving the largest 100 corporations in our country tax cuts larger than the entire 2024 K-12 budget of the Department of Education. This is a totally unacceptable plan."

In another tweet posted on December 6, Rep. Jayapal highlighted her connection with the Congressional Progressive Caucus and expressed enthusiasm about its future leadership: "The @USProgressives Caucus has been my ideological home in Congress, and it has been a true honor to lead and grow it substantially.
