The tweets outline the efforts by workers, legislators, and federal agencies to address concerns about the merger.

On December 11, 2024, Rep. Jayapal tweeted about the organized efforts by workers across multiple UFCW locals over several years. She highlighted her call for an FTC investigation into the merger alongside bipartisan support from Senators Amy Klobuchar and Mike Lee. A coalition of UFCW Locals formed to stop the merger: "This took a couple of years of organizing by workers in multiple UFCW locals..."

Later that day, she detailed further developments involving legislative and regulatory actions against the merger. The Senate Antitrust Subcommittee conducted a hearing on the matter while House members contributed letters building the case against it. In February 2024, Lina Khan from the FTC announced plans to challenge the merger legally: "The Senate Antitrust Subcommittee held a hearing on the merger; continued building of the case..."
