Rep. Pramila Jayapal, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district, has been vocal on various issues via her social media presence. Her recent posts on Twitter address concerns about educational programs and immigration policies under the recent administration.
In a post dated April 11, 2025, Jayapal highlighted the precarious situation facing the Head Start program, which annually educates "over half a million low-income kids." She attributed this risk of potential closure to actions by former President Trump, pointing out that "he doesn’t care, he sent his kids to private school."
On April 12, 2025, Rep. Jayapal expressed criticism regarding the management of immigration incarceration by private entities. She described the scenario as "Nothing but waste, fraud & abuse by private for-profit contractors" and suggested that entrepreneur Elon Musk should consider cutting unnecessary expenditures in this context.
Further criticisms regarding the handling of immigrant data were shared by Rep. Jayapal on the same day. She depicted the situation as "a dystopian horror story," criticizing a request from Trump's associates for private data on "7 MILLION immigrants," questioning the legitimacy and motivation behind deeming some of these individuals “dead” despite the lack of evidence of criminal records.
Pramila Jayapal, born in Chennai, Madras State in 1965, now resides in Seattle. She has served in Congress since 2017, following her tenure in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016.
