In an April 8, 2025 post, Rep. Jayapal conveyed the readiness of Democratic leader Rep. Jeffries to debate Speaker Johnson on what she described as "this disastrous GOP budget resolution." She criticized the resolution for cutting essential programs, such as Medicaid, in order to provide tax cuts to billionaires. Jayapal emphasized, "The American people deserve to hear the truth."

Later, on the same day, Jayapal expressed her pride in joining the United Auto Workers (UAW) to oppose budget cuts. "So proud to join my friends at @UAW today as we rallied to KILL THE CUTS," she wrote. She criticized figures like Trump, Elon Musk, and the Republican party for their intent to cut science and research funding in favor of a substantial tax cut.
